Yoga for Fertility

I designed a course for fertility patients undergoing IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) and IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) treatments in New York City using Articulate Storyline 360. Through this course, fertility patients learn how to practice yoga and meditation to both reduce stress and increase blood flow in order to improve their fertility outcomes. I utilized an iterative version of the ADDIE model to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate the learning solution and applied adult learning theories throughout the process, such as Knowles' Four Principles of Adult Learning, Kirpatrick's 4 Levels of Evaluation, Gagne's 9 Events of Instruction, Backward Design, and Cognitive Load theory. Below, you can learn more about my course development process and view the completed course.

Yoga for Fertility

This Storyline course demonstrates my hands-on instructional design practice, including needs analysis, task analysis, storyboarding, interaction design, and evaluation. While my current work focuses on product-level learning design, this sample demonstrates hands-on course development skills. Design decisions prioritized learner autonomy, cognitive load management, and real-world applicability, drawing on adult learning and instructional design principles.

Needs Analysis

I started with conducting a needs analysis and collecting data on the needs of fertility patients through a survey and interviews. I decided that a blended learning solution, including both an eLearning course and Instructor-Led Trainings, would be the best option.

Why an eLearning course?

I decided to create an eLearning course because many of the learners are very busy due to balancing frequent doctors appointments and full time jobs and would benefit from working at their own pace. In addition, creating an eLearning course allows more patients to participate.

Why Instructor-Led Training?

I decided to also include an Instructor-Led Training to give patients the opportunity to connect with each other and do yoga together. This also allows learners to ask questions in real-time in order to improve their yoga practice.

02

Design Document

Next, I entered the design phase of the ADDIE model. I created a design document in collaboration with SMEs and Key Stakeholders. In this document, I created the learning objectives and decided which objectives would be met in each part of the blended learning solution.

03

Outline

Third, I created an outline for my eLearning course. This outline demonstrates the course sequence and how learners will navigate between learning activities. I modified my outline based on feedback.

04

Storyboard

Fourth, I created the Storyboard for my course by utilizing adult learning theories such as Knowles' Four Principles of Adult Learning, Gagne's 9 Events of Instruction, Kirpatrick's 4 Levels of Evaluation, Backwards Design, and Cognitive Load theory. I modified my Storyboard after receiving feedback from my key stakeholders and SMEs.

Course Development

Next, I entered the development phase. I developed a functional prototype of the eLearning course and modified my prototype after receiving feedback from my SMEs and key stakeholders. I used an iterative approach to develop my course and apply regular feedback.

Implementation & Evaluation

Finally, I implemented my course by sharing it with a non-profit organization that provides support to patients undergoing fertility treatments.
